The Lawrencecliffe Hall was built in Trois Rivieres, Quebec in 1922 and originally named Frank A. Augsbury. She sailed for George Hall Coal & Transportation Co. from 1922-1926 and then for Canada Steamship Lines from 1926-1940 when she was requisitioned for the war. She returned to Canada in 1952 as Lawrencecliffe Hall. In 1956 she was taken over by Federal Commerce and Navigation and sailed as the Federal Explorer until she was wrecked in Hudson Bay in September 1960.
